There is a process for the Copyright Registration in Delhi but first, know what is copyright. Copyright is a right granted to creators of literary, dramatic, musical and artistic works and producers of cinematograph films and sound recordings. In fact, it is a bundle of rights including, inter alia, rights of reproduction, communication to the public, adaptation, and translation of the work. First of all, go to LegalRaasta and click the ‘Registration’ option. Next click on “Copyright” and the process begins.
Step 01: Filling the Copyright Application Form:
Fill in the text boxes with your contact details and click on proceed.
Step 02: Fill in Copyright Application Details:
A Copyright can be filed by a Person or an Organisation / Business. Individuals can opt for “Person” and other entities can select “Organisation / Business” option. So, select the appropriate option. A person should fill in his/her name, the address for communication and nationality. Filling in your nationality is important because foreign individuals and entities can also file their copyright in India. An Organisation / Business will have to fill in only its name and address for communication. Then click “Next” and you will be directed to the “Copyright Details” page.

Step 03: Fill in the Copyright Details:
In this, you need to fill in the nature of your interest in the copyright, the class of work it is, its usage and the title of the work. Your nature of interest in the work can be as an Author or Publisher or Producer or Owner or Composer (for lyrical and musical work) or Artist (for Performances). Its class of work could be a Literary / Dramatic or Artistic or Cinematographic Film or Music (for musical creation) or Sound Recording or Computer Software. It can be used for goods or services or both and finally, the most important detail is the title of the work. These details are very important and necessary without which a copyright cannot be filed.
Step 04: Fill in the Author Details:
Any published (or performed) or unpublished (or not performed) work can be copyrighted.
If the work is unpublished then you need to give the name of the author, the address, the nationality of the author and the author’s date of death (if the author is deceased). Then select the “Unpublished” option and click “Next”.
If the work has been published, then, apart from the author’s name, address, nationality, and date of death (if applicable), you need to give the details of the publication of the work. The required details are:
Now, click on “Next” and you will be directed to the Payments page.
Step 05: Payment:
After, click on “Next”, you will be taken to the payments page. We provide a variety of payment options. You can choose from Netbanking (EBS Payment Gateway)/Debit or Credit Card, EMI, Bank Transfer (IPMS, RTGS, NEFT), and your choice of mobile wallet (Mobikwik, PayU, Instamojo). Additionally, you can also pay from your Paytm wallet by speaking to our sales executives on the phone. You can also apply your valid discount coupon if any. Then, click “Next” and you will be directed to the “Billing Details” page.
Step 06: Billing Details:
Please provide your billing details. This is because your billing details might be different from your registration details. After clicking on “Submit”, you will be redirected to the appropriate payment gateway for secure payment.
Step 07: Work Completion:
When you have filled the registration form, your payment is successful and you have submitted the required documents, your Copyright Registration process will start. Our expert will prepare your copyright application according to your need. We will coordinate with you for all the copyright documents. This process will take 2 working days. As soon as your documents and application are processed properly, our executive will submit your copyright application to the Copyright Office. This process will take 1 working day.
